Ultra Rare 1964 Ferrari 250 LM to be Auctioned

One of the star cars at this weekends “Ferrari Leggenda e Passione” auction in Maranello, Italy that’s organized by RM Auctions in association with Sotheby is the grand prix winning 1964 Ferrari 250 LM. Designed by Pininfarina, with coachwork by Scaglietti, this particular example was the fourth of only thirty-two 250 LMs built. The highlight of its extensive racing history occurred in 1965 when driven by Jochen Rindt, it claimed first place at the Austrian Grand Prix.

In September 1969, the car was shipped to Boston, Massachusetts in the US and later –surprise, surprise- it was converted for road use! Its owner cover the dashboard with leather, replaced the sliding windows with wind-up windows, while he also added seat belts and carpets.

The car changed numerous owners, during which it was, at one stage, a common sight on New York freeways, being used by its then owner for regular commutes into the city...

The 250 LM’s last stop occurred in 2002 when it was bought by its current owner who comprehensively restored the car. According to RM Auctions, the Ferrari 250 LM is expected to fetch around €4,200,000 - €4,800,000 which is about $6,500,000 - $7,500,000. Guess we won’t be seeing this one on the road again.

Ferrari Celebrates For Receiving 60,000 Visitors on GT California Website, We Wonder Why

We not so sure that the 60,000 hits that Ferrari’s dedicated California site received during its first weekend (May 10-11) is something worth celebrating, but Ferrari certainly thinks so. Even if the first pictures of Ferrari’s new coupe-cabriolet model were uploaded on May 13, the site practically received backlinks from nearly every car related blog and website on the globe. Having that in mind, 60,000 hits aren't a lot at all...

According to the Italian supercarmaker, most of the first 60,000 visitors were American, followed by Italians and then enthusiasts from other European countries. The site also received a signigicant number of hits from China, Japan and the Asia-Pacific region in general. Read more about the California by clicking here. Edo Competition Upgrades the Ferrari Enzo to 700Hp

While most of you will agree with us when we say that a stock 660Hp Ferrari Enzo is more than fulfilling, Edo Competition believes that there must be a handful of unsatisfied folks who'll be willing to pay an arm and a leg to upgrade one of the fastest and most desirable sportscar of the planet.

The German tuner’s package includes a power increase to around 700Hp thanks to new exhaust headers like the ones found on the Ferrari FXX; a high-flow catalytic converter; a performance muffler; a modified intake with ram-air system; high-flow air filters and ECU recalibration. A lot of upgrades for a mere 40Hp more if you ask us… Edo Competition says that the tunned Enzo goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62mp) in 3.5 sec and on to a top speed of 370 km/h or 230 MPH. -

Other upgrades included in the package are a stainless steel muffler with adjustable remote-controlled butterfly-valve, new exhaust tips, a tire pressure monitoring system displaying air pressure and tire temperature for each wheel, sport suspension with adjustable compression and rebound damping like on the FIA GT MC12, a new transmission control unit with same shift times as on the Ferrari FXX and a high-performance lightweight clutch...

In terms of tire/alloy combos, Edo Competition equips the Enzo with a set of special lightweight wheels with Michelin tires (front: 10 x 19 with 265/35 ZR 19, rear: 13 x 20 with 335/30 ZR 20).

Breathtaking Ferr@ri Enzo Replica

If you’re searching for a reason to hate replicas, then look no further than to this hideous, Lego-looking Ferrari Enzo or as its eBay seller calls it, Ferr@ri -we wouldn’t want the Italians to call up their lawyers now, would we… The replica that’s described by its owner as an “absolutely beautiful Enzo” is based on a 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT chassis with a V6 engine and an automatic transmission. And if its looks aren’t good enough to convince you, the learn that it comes equipped with door poppers, AM-FM, CD player, and DVD player with a monitor...

Ferrari California Coupe-Cabriolet: New Image Gallery with Top Up

Continuing the stream of information new California GT on the Ferrari has released more details and photographs of its 2+ convertible, including pictures of the retractable hardtop closed. Needless to say, the California looks sensual enough either way. Ferrari also informed us that when the roof is up, the 4.3-liter V8-powered GT boasts a boot capacity of 360-litres while when its down, storage space is reduced to 260-litres. Moreover, for the first time on a Prancing Horse car, the boot and cabin communicate directly, allowing a choice of luggage configurations to be used...

The Italian carmaker also announced that President Luca di Montezemolo put the California through its paces over several laps at the Fiorano circuit. Here’s what he said:

“I am very satisfied indeed with the work that the women and men of Ferrari have done,” declared Luca di Montezemolo. “The California is an extraordinary car and I was delighted with the performance, comfort and driving pleasure it delivered. The California is, like all of our models, the epitome of cutting-edge innovation. Its gearbox, suspensions and chassis are the most advanced possible.”

“This is the first dual-purpose Spider/Coupé with a retractable hard top that closes in just 14 seconds. Despite its extraordinary performance, the California 2+ is also exceptionally easy to drive and has a space behind the front seats that makes it supremely flexible in terms of usage.”

Mysterious F430 Based Ferrari Scooped in Maranello

An unknown Ferrari that seems to be based on the F430 has been caught testing outside the Italian automaker’s facilities in Maranello. These pictures that come to us from a reader of our Dutch friends over at Autoblog.nl show a mid-engined supercar that looks to be production ready – notice the absence of any type of camouflage. Although there’s a possibility that the supercar featured in these scoop photos could be a revised version of the current F430, we’re leaning towards a coach built model created for an ultra-rich customer with the blessings of Ferrari.

Schumi Completes Development Tests on Ferrari California

Seven times Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher might have left the paddocks but he still continues to be actively involved with the development of all Ferrari models, and the new California that’s due to be unveiled at the Paris International Motor Show in October is no exception. See what Schumi had to say about the California and how it compares against the 430 Scuderia right after the jump.

I have to say that, as with the 430 Scuderia, participating in the project since the very beginning has been really fascinating and great fun,” commented Schumacher at the end of a test session at the Fiorano circuit...

“Although the cars are very different, they both offer absolutely unique driving pleasure because of the inherently sporty character of all of the cars that come out of Maranello. The 430 Scuderia is, of course, a more extreme model with a focus on absolutely cutting-edge performance. However, although the Ferrari California is very much a Grand Tourer in terms of its usability and high level of interior comfort, it is still surprisingly sporty and fun to drive under any kind of conditions.”

Schumacher also explained the differences between the 430 Scuderia and the California: “They were designed to meet different requirements: the 430 Scuderia is aimed at drivers who want the very essence of a Ferrari and will get it out on the track as often as they can.

“The Ferrari California, on the other hand, is designed for everyday use and for weekends away whilst still guaranteeing all of the em
